People who are nearsighted, or myopes, have an advantage when they get to the presbyopic years in that they can just take off their spectacles to read. Those who wear contact lenses can wear a weaker lens in one eye, allowing them to read clearly at a short distance.
If removing the spectacles is inconvenient, or if the degree of myopia is too high, bifocal or multifocal lenses can help provide clear vision at distance and at near. Multifocal contact lenses are also an option for lens wearers.
