Allergy season is upon us once again. Hay fever, or seasonal allergies, is very common this time of year because of the amount of pollen in the air. Common symptoms to look out for often resemble a cold, runny and itchy nose, sneezing, teary, red, and itchy eyes. If you have these symptoms, antihistamine tablets and/or eye drops can help. Change your linen, wash your hair often, vacuum carpets, and try to keep windows closed to keep the pollen out.
If you wear contact lenses, take a break from them while treating the allergy. Cold compresses around the eyes have been shown to help as well. If you have to be outside, wear spectacles or sunglasses to reduce your exposure. Artificial tears drops can help flush out the allergy-causing particles. Kids also suffer from hay fever, if you see them rubbing their eyes a lot, please contact us for assistance.
